Fall family trip to New York City: Suspended.

These realities have been totally disappointing. Understandable, in the midst of a worldwide pandemic, but difficult nonetheless. One small consolation and a fun way to stay connected to the city that I love during this time has been through home delivery of some of my favorite treats.

The cookies from Levain Bakery that I raved about here, delivered directly to my doorstep brought several weeks of joy to our household. Did you know that you can freeze and then reheat them in the oven for ten minutes, restoring their just-out-of-the-oven taste and texture? It’s magical.

I also ordered a case of the legendary Banana Pudding from Magnolia Bakery! Although shipping costs were nearly as much as the pudding itself, it was the pick-me-up we needed and it was extra fun to drop off containers to friends around town.

I have started a list of other treats I want to order. I’ll update you when I do. Next up: bagels from Zabars, Halva from Seed & Mill, and chocolate from Hu Kitchen. Now, if I could find a way to get a burger delivered from Shake Shack and some tacos from Los Tacos No. 1…
